Idiomy – The Social Translation Community for Idioms & Colloquial Phrases

January 12th, 2010

My latest project is Idiomy, which is an attempt to create an online community of linguists who collaborate to firstly record idioms in their native language and then link their meaning to other idioms in other languages.

The idea is to create a repository of idioms in languages from all over the world to then aid people learning and using foreign languages to understand and use the phrases in the right situations.

Together, we can create meaning from obscurity where computer translation still lacks the ability to understand the nuances of linguistics.

If you are reading this post and are interested in helping with translation of the site into a language that you speak, then please do get in touch via the comments – with your collaboration this project will have a greater chance of succeeding.
