San Pedro de Atacama – Santiago
San Pedro is a gringo haven: something that Floris, Charlie and I really did not like having spent 3 days away from civilization in Bolivia. We decided to move on as quick as possible instead of staying to Sand dune surf or drink over priced beer.
Uyuni – Chilean border: the salt flats tour
We woke up early in order to organise a salt flats tour with one of the various companies in the town and hopefully get moving that same day.

What followed is probably the most painful but at the same time amazingly funny bus journey of my life so far. I only wish I had the story telling skills of someone like Stephen Fry to describe it in its full glory.
After about 2 hours of the “ya viene” – “it’s coming” game. A bus eventually did rock up stopping short of the terminal and parking up outside. within seconds flocks of people surrounded it with bags, sacks, boxes and market stool poles amongst other things. It was quite clear that the amount of baggage was not going to fit into this bus but we were wrong – it would fit by one way or the other
